Sh Suhyup Bank MBN Women’s Open “The Opening Chapter of a Championship Battle at The Star Hue”
[Yangpyeong=Kang Byeong-koo] The 2026 Sh Suhyup Bank MBN Women’s Open, the tenth event of the KLPGA Tour season, will tee off on May 29 at The Star Hue Golf & Resort in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province.
The tournament, now in its 14th edition, offers a total prize purse of KRW 1 billion, including KRW 180 million for the winner. Co-hosted by MBN Maeil Business Newspaper and Sh Suhyup Bank, the event has become one of the KLPGA Tour’s signature tournaments, featuring elite competition and a variety of fan-focused activities.
Ahead of the tournament, an official photocall brought together many of the tour’s leading players, including defending champion Jeong Yunji, Bang Shinsil, Kim Jaehee, Jaravee Boonchant, Park Hyunkyung, and Yoo Hyeonjo. Standing before the championship trophy, the players displayed confidence and determination as they prepared for another intense title race.
Jeong Yunji, who captured last year’s title in wire-to-wire fashion, returns to defend her championship.
“I want to focus on my process and rhythm and show the kind of golf that reflects who I am as a player,” Jeong said ahead of the tournament.
Jaravee Boonchant enters the week with strong momentum after becoming the first Thai player to win a KLPGA Tour event last week. She now seeks a second consecutive victory.
Season winners Bang Shinsil, Yoo Hyeonjo, and Lim Jinyeong are also among the contenders, while established players such as Park Hyunkyung, Jeon Yeseong, Lee Yullin, and Lee Dayeon continue their pursuit of a first victory of the season or additional titles.
The Star Hue Golf & Resort is known for its dramatic elevation changes, blind holes, and challenging undulations. Success on the course requires more than distance off the tee, placing a premium on precision, course management, and strategic decision-making.
In addition to the competition, the tournament will feature several fan participation programs, including the “Birdie Wave Hole” and the “Charity Zone.” Donations accumulated through these initiatives will be delivered through the Suhyup Foundation to support welfare programs for Korea’s fishing communities.
